GSE: Gainers and losers for last week

Four (4) equities at the end of trading session on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) last week – April 8, 2022 – recorded gains in their share prices.

 The pack of four gainers was led by Ecobank Transnational International [ETI] with a share price appreciation of 0.03 percent with a positive year-to-date change of 17.65 percent.

At the closing bell last week, ETI’s share price had appreciated to GHS 0.20 pesewas.

Closely following ETI was SIC with a share price appreciation of 0.02 percent and a positive year-to-date change of 9.09 percent.

SIC ended last week’s trading session with a share price of GHS 0.24 pesewas.

The remaining two (2) equities that recorded gains on the bourse include; Societe-Generale Ghana and Pesewa 0ne PIc.

The 2 equities recorded 0.01 percent and 0.01 percent gains in share prices respectively, ending last week’s trading session with share prices of GHS 1.20 pesewas and GHS 0.66 pesewas respectively.

Regarding decliners on the local bourse, TOTAL, GCB and MTNGH emerged the bourse’s three decliners with -0.03%, 0.04% and -0.06% loss in share price during last week.

TOTAL begun and ended the week with opening and closing stock prices of GHS 5.02 and GHS 4.99 respectively.

GCB and MTNGH also begun and ended the week with opening and closing stock prices of GHS 5.16 and GHS 1.06; GHS 5.12 and GHS 1 respectively.

Market activity for the week lost 49.20 points to close at 2,693.65 translating into a YTD return of-3.43%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index  (GSE-FSI) on the other hand increased by 39.22 points to close the  week at 2,214.18 translating into a YTD return of 2.90%.

Market Capitalization subsequently decreased by GHS 18.34 million to  close the trading week at GHS 64.01 billion. 

A total of 3.68 million shares valued at GHS 3.64 million traded during  the week compared to 83.03 million shares valued at GHS 88.89 million which traded the previous week.

Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) recorded the most trades per value over the week as it accounted for  58.50% of the total value traded.
