Foreign Ministry to Airlines: Allow passengers with special permit to travel to Ghana
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) to allow airlines to bring in passengers with special authorisation permit due to challenges in issuing visas by some Ghana missions abroad.
Scores of Ghanaians have over the past few days been left stranded at the Ghana High Commission in London due to the development.
“Why should application for visas and other services become a headache for Ghanaians or the Ukrainian war plus COVID-19 have affected your operations here too?
“I know many friends and family struggling to receive their applied and paid for services even though their monies have been taken from their accounts… For several months now applicants are struggling to make contact via your approved formats ie online chat, telephone and email with no luck.
“And those who dare going to Highgate are refused entry by asking them to resort to the above mentioned formats that are not functioning,” Barima Nana Yaw Buobu posted on Facebook.
However, a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Friday, July 15, 2022, said travellers will be issued with visa on arrival.
