The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), today, November 18, 2020, commences its 97th MPC meeting.

The Committee chaired by the Governor of the Central Bank, Dr Ernest Addison, is expected to review new developments in the economy since the last MPC meeting held some 2 months ago.

The Committee is also expected to come out with a new policy rate at the end of its meeting on Friday, November 20, to be announced on Monday, November 23.

With inflation on a downward trend for the last two months, expectations are that the MPC will reduce its policy rate to help stimulate economic activities.

The policy rate is the interest rate at which the Central Bank lends to commercial banks which forms the benchmark for insterest rates on loans by commercial banks to the public.
