Abedi Pele and Asamoah Gyan Appointed Ambassadors for CAF African Schools Football Championship
Ghanaian football legends Abedi Ayew (Pele) and Asamoah Gyan have been named as ambassadors for the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship, set to take place in Accra from April 21-26 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
This prestigious appointment recognizes their significant contributions to both Ghanaian and African football, as well as their commitment to nurturing young talent.
Abedi Pele, a three-time African Footballer of the Year and former captain of the Black Stars, boasts an illustrious career that includes winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 1982 and leading Ghana to the final in 1992.
His club success in Europe is highlighted by winning the UEFA Champions League title with Olympique Marseille.
Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s all-time leading scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances, has also served as an ambassador for the tournament’s second edition. Gyan has won silver medals at the 2010 and 2015 AFCON and has represented Ghana in three World Cups.
In their ambassadorial roles, both Pele and Gyan will promote the tournament and inspire the next generation of footballers, contributing to the development of youth football across Africa.
Their involvement is expected to serve as a powerful motivation for the young participants, providing them with a glimpse of the heights they can achieve in the sport.
