Accra Lions clash with Samartex as GPL returns

Accra Lions will host Samartex FC at the Sogakope WAFA Park on Monday as the betPawa Premier League returns after the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finals.

This showdown is their first in the elite League with the home side gaining promotion in the 2021/22 whiles Samartex were promoted this season. Accra Lions sit second in the League table with 15 points whiles Samartex are currently 13th in the log with 10 points having won their last two games against Kotoku Royals (1-0) and Karela United (1-0).

Accra Lions have lost two and won three in their last five Premier League games and a win on Monday would take them back to the top of the table until leaders Aduana FC play on Tuesday. Coach Ibrahim Tanko who traveled to the World Cup as one of the four home-based coaches will be coming into the game with higher hopes having gained an appreciable level of experience from the World Cup.

Lions have been boosted by the return of Dominic Nsobila – who is with the Black Galaxies as the likes of Andrews Owusu and Frederick Asante are all available for selection whiles Samartex will rely on their current top scorer Seidu Abubakari.

The attacker has three goals to his name and goes into the match as one of the players to watch – while the likes of Seidu Dauda and Gabriel Bonnah provide steel in midfield.

The match which is scheduled for 3pm kick off will be live on Startimes Adepa channel 247.
