African women entrepreneurs have been encouraged to be bold enough to enter the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to do business.

Speaking in a webinar organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC), Ms Marianna Bulbuc, an expatriate doing business in the UAE, said the UAE government is very supportive in helping businesses in the Emirates grow.

“African women entrepreneurs need to be bold and try to come and do business in the UAE, I made the bold decision to move to the UAE and do business here. I have knocked on the doors of government agencies and they have been very receptive. When you (African women entrepreneurs) approach government agencies, ask the relevant questions that you need to, don’t be shy and once you get some contacts maintain them and continue because people in the UAE value personal relationships,” she said.

Ms Bulbuc also spoke of reduced licensing and registration costs for businesses especially those engaged in imports and exports into the UAE market, acquisition of licences that allows one to do business internationally and outside the UAE, Covid-19 business incentives, reduced import duties among others.

The webinar was themed; African Women in Business, Connecting the Dots to the UAE Market and Expo 2020: How to Setup, Export and do Business in UAE.

Expo 2020 to be organized by the Dubai Chamber is a platform that gives businesses both local and global the opportunity to showcase their products not only to UAE consumers but also those visiting from 192 countries.

Set to opens its doors to the world on 1 October 2021, Expo 2020 will welcome countless international participants, companies and multilateral institutions to the world’s greatest show of human brilliance and achievement.
