Anthony Joshua will be “finished” after he loses to Oleksandr Usyk says Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua will be “finished” after he loses to Oleksandr Usyk says Tyson Fury

Tyson Fury is predicting Anthony Joshua will lose his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in July and end up retiring from the sport after suffering his third defeat in his last five fights.

WBC Fury is already gloating ahead of time about Joshua’s career being shattered to pieces by IBF/WBA/WBO champion Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) in their second fight.

What Fury finds amusing is Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) wanted him to do his dirty work for him by facing Usyk, and to temporarily keep his career above water. Fury says Joshua’s “greed” got the better of him, so the fight with Usyk didn’t happen for the Gypsy King.

Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn haven’t said what they plan on doing if they lose the rematch with Usyk, but it will likely depend on how badly he loses.

If Usyk dominates every second of the fight and knocks Joshua out, it’s hard to see him continuing on with his career but it’s also possible that Joshua will once again make a trainer change, believing that a new face will be able to turn his career around.

Wladimir Klitschko’s career was saved by Emanuel Steward, who rebuilt him after his second-round knockout loss to Corrie Sanders in 2003. Perhaps Joshua will hang on after a second defeat at the hands of Usyk, sack his team and go from there to the next coach.

“Here’s how it goes. You’ve heard it here first. He’s going to get busted by Usyk in the rematch – if he even has the guts to take it,” Fury said to The Sun. “Then he’s finished, career over. Three losses, goodnight Vienna, got beat by a middleweight, move over.”

There are already many boxing fans that believe Joshua made the wrong decision to take an immediate rematch with Usyk.

Joshua could have easily put some distance between himself and his loss last September by taking three or four warm-up fights to erase the memory of his loss while at the same time learning new things from his trainer.

You would think that three defeats in his last five fights would be a wake-up call for Joshua that he needs to hang up his gloves, but it’s doubtful that he will and it’s likely going to take a few more losses before Joshua hangs it up.
