Antoine Semenyo Urges Ghanaian Support Ahead of Crucial World Cup Qualifiers

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars as they prepare for their pivotal World Cup qualifiers later this month.

With the team set to face Chad on March 21 in Accra and Madagascar three days later, Semenyo emphasized the importance of fan support during this critical time.

Semenyo, who has been in outstanding form this season with nine goals across all competitions, has become a key player for both his club and the national team. His seven Premier League goals tie him with teammate Dango Ouattara, trailing only Justin Kluivert’s impressive tally of 12 for Bournemouth.

Since making his debut for the Black Stars in 2022, Semenyo has consistently contributed to the squad, having participated in both the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

As Ghana currently sits second in Group I, tied on points with Comoros, victories in the upcoming fixtures are crucial for enhancing their chances of World Cup qualification.

“Continue praying for us. Continue being with us; we need you more than ever,” Semenyo urged fans via the Ghana Football Association (GFA). He stressed the significance of the two matches, stating, “These games are so important and crucial for our qualification in the World Cup.”

The Black Stars are aiming to break a nine-month winless streak, having not secured a victory since June 2024. After failing to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, the pressure is on the team to perform well in March.

Semenyo concluded with a hopeful message, “We look forward to seeing you and hopefully we can get two wins.”
