Asante Gold emerges among five top traded stocks on the GSE for last week

Equities of MTN, CAL Bank, Société Generale [SOGEGH], Ecobank Transnational International (ETI) and AshantiGold [ASG] emerged the top five (5) traded stocks on the Ghana Stock Market at the close of trading last week.

Total volume traded on the GSE last week was 4.6 million shares valued at GHS 14.7 million traded during the week compared to the 66 million shares valued at GHS 50.6 million which traded the previous week.

Compared with the previous trading week, this week’s data shows a 92.96% decline in volume traded and 70.86% decline in trade turnover

The GSE’s market capitalization increased GHS 1,974 million to close the trading week at GHS 64.80 billion.

MTN closed the week as the most traded stock with a traded value of GHS 2.08 million. Total volume traded of the stock at the end of the week also amounted to 2,368,284.

CAL, SOGEGH and ETI recorded total volume and value traded of 947,766 and GHS 720,110; 475,572 and GHS 469,751; 313,121 and GHS 43,836 respectively.

AshantiGold which was the fifth most traded stock recorded volume and value trade of 240,282 and GHS 2,131,301 respectively.

Meanwhile, market activity for the week inched up by 163.97 points to close at  2,560.49 points translating into a YTD return of -8.20%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) however lost 7.50 points to close at 2,085.40points translating into a YTD return of-3.09%.

Twenty-three  (23) equities traded over the week, ending with four(4) gainers and  two (2) decliners. GLD, MTNGH, SOGEGH and CAL were the gainers as they gained GHS 6.30, GHS 0.15, GHS 0.04 and GHS 0.01 whilst the decliners were GCB and ETI as they lost GHS 0.01 and GHS 0.01 respectively.
