Asante Kotoko crowned Ghana Premier League champions

Asante Kotoko were crowned Ghana Premier League champions for the record 25th time in a grand coronation at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors secured the Ghana Premier League title in their outstanding game against Ashantigold SC at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium where they drew 1-1 a week ago but had to wait for the coronation on Sunday. .

Kotoko left-back Imoro Ibrahim scored a beautiful freekick to break the deadlock for the champions.

Georges Mfegue climbed off the bench to score a brace for Asante Kotoko in the second half but Asante Kotoko’s marksman Frank Etouga Mbella failed to equal Ishmael Addo’s record in Sunday’s game but managed to get an assist.

Kotoko as champions of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League received Ghc 250,000 as cash prize, a trophy and medals for their players and technical team.

The Porcupine Warriorswill travel away to Accra Lions next week Sunday in their Matchday 34 encounter as the 2021/2022 season comes to an end.
