Asante Kotoko Eyes League Glory and Continental Success

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko are determined to reclaim domestic dominance and make a significant impact on the continental stage following a strategic recruitment process. The club’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, shared insights into their ambitious plans during an interview on Akoma 87.9 FM.

Duku emphasized that Asante Kotoko has taken a methodical approach to scouting and signing top talent from Ghana, intending to blend these local players with select foreign signings ahead of the new season. “We’ve taken our time to sign the best players from the country and will be combining them with some foreign ones,” he stated.

The focus of the recruitment strategy is on young, ambitious players who not only have a proven track record but also possess the potential to attract international attention. “We will only sign young players with a positive outlook and the ability to attract interest from abroad,” Duku explained.

With these new additions, Duku expressed confidence that the revamped squad would surpass last season’s performance, potentially leading to an early league title victory. “If we are to improve just a little on last season’s performance, we will win the league title sooner than anticipated,” he added.

On the continental front, Asante Kotoko is preparing for a return to CAF inter-club competitions, aiming to improve on their previous records. “It’s been a while since Kotoko qualified for the group stages in Africa, but this time the goal is to outperform our previous campaign,” Duku mentioned.

The Porcupine Warriors are set to represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup, and expectations are high among fans and pundits alike. The club’s renewed strategy is not only focused on immediate success but also on building a competitive team that can restore its glory both at home and on the continental stage.
