ASWAJ Ghana Commiserates with Minister for Interior Over Helicopter Crash Tragedy
In a heartfelt display of goodwill, compassion, and national solidarity, the Ahlussunah Wal Jamaa (ASWAJ) Ghana, this morning paid a solemn visit to the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, to commiserate with him, the Government, and the people of Ghana following the recent helicopter crash which claimed the lives of respected statesmen and gallant soldiers.
The tragic incident, which has plunged the nation into mourning, took the lives of eight brave servicemen who died in the line of duty. They are remembered not only for their professionalism and dedication but also for their unwavering service to the nation. Their sacrifice stands as a testament to the values of courage, patriotism, and commitment to national security.
The ASWAJ delegation, made up of some of the nation’s most prominent Islamic scholars and clerics, arrived at the Ministry in a spirit of humility and empathy. Leading the visit was the National Deputy Imam, Sheikh Mohammed Kamil Mohammed, who was accompanied by Sheikh Mohammed Attick Mohammed, the Eastern Regional Imam; Sheikh Ahmed Jawara, the Central Regional Imam; Sheikh Umar Sidi, the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Imam; Sheikh Abdul Razak Abdallah, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Imam; Sheikh Ameen Tanko Osman, a member of the National Dawah Council (NaDaC); and Sheikh Matuf Abdur-Rahman, a member of the Investment Committee of ASWAJ Ghana.
During the visit, the delegation offered fervent prayers for Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, asking Almighty Allah to grant him strength and wisdom as he continues to discharge his duties during this period of national sorrow. Special prayers were also made for the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, and for the Government of Ghana, that they may be granted divine guidance, patience, and resilience in steering the country through these difficult times.
The clerics further prayed for the souls of the eight fallen heroes, beseeching Allah to grant them eternal rest and to comfort their grieving families. They emphasised that such moments remind the nation of the need to unite in prayer and mutual support, transcending political, ethnic, and religious divides.
Speaking after the visit, the leadership of ASWAJ Ghana reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to peace, national cohesion, and the well-being of the country. They called on all Ghanaians to continue to uphold the memory of the fallen soldiers by cherishing the values they stood for , selfless service, sacrifice, and love for the nation.
Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed his profound gratitude to the ASWAJ delegation for standing with him, the Government, and the families of the victims during this period of grief.
