AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Nigeria and Uganda on the Brink, Ghana in Danger

Nigeria and Uganda are on the verge of securing their spots in the finals as matchday five of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers unfolds. Both teams need just a point to qualify for the tournament in Morocco. Nigeria faces Benin in Abidjan on Thursday, while Uganda takes on South Africa in Kampala on Friday.

In contrast, Ghana could face elimination if they do not secure a win against Angola in Luanda, especially if Sudan avoids defeat against Niger in Lome on Thursday.

Group A leaders Tunisia are looking to extend their record with a 17th consecutive finals appearance, needing a victory against Madagascar in Pretoria.

Meanwhile, the reigning champions, Ivory Coast, require only three points to ensure their chance to defend their title as they head to Zambia.

Already qualified teams Morocco and Egypt will be playing away against Gabon and Cape Verde, respectively. Senegal, who have also qualified, will face Burkina Faso in Bamako on Thursday.
