Barcelona delegation travels to Doha to meet Xavi but without Laporta

Barcelona will begin negotiations in Doha with Xavi Hernandez and Al Sadd over the possibility of making their former player and club legend their new head coach.

Following the departure of Ronald Koeman, and Sergi Barjuan acting as caretaker coach, Barcelona wants to have Xavi in charge sooner rather than later.

Despite all the noise surrounding his return, Al Sadd still expects their current head coach to be in charge of their game this Wednesday, November 3, against Al-Duhail.

The timing of Xavi’s departure works well for Al Sadd as their game on Wednesday night is their last until the end of December, giving the Qatari club time to find a replacement.

Joan Laporta has not travelled to Doha and that could end up being a key factor in bringing Xavi back to Barcelona, with suggestions that sending Rafa Yuste and Mateu Alemany alone is not an ideal move.

As Xavi is still under contract with Al Sadd, there could be some fine details for the Barcelona delegation to iron out, with the optimism of having a deal for the coach wrapped up this week not replicated by the Qatari club.

For now, at the Camp Nou, there is a feeling of hope and expectation that Xavi will return as their saviour and guide them back to the top.

However, if they firmly believe that to be the case, then it is interesting that Laporta is not willing to do everything that he could do bring Xavi back to Barcelona.
