Barcelona to Continue Playing at Olympic Stadium as Camp Nou Renovations Advance
FC Barcelona has announced that they will play the remainder of their home matches this season at the Olympic Stadium. This decision comes as construction work on their iconic Camp Nou stadium continues, with the club informing members that they will not return to their home ground until next season.
The La Liga leaders had initially hoped to resume play at Camp Nou before the end of the current season. However, delays in the renovation process have pushed back those plans. The club communicated to its members on Thursday that tickets for the remaining La Liga and Champions League matches can now be purchased for their temporary home at the Olympic Stadium, where the team has been playing since the start of the 2023-24 season.
Once completed, the Camp Nou is expected to boast a capacity of over 60,000 spectators, with a full reopening scheduled for next season. The renovation project, which began in June 2023, has faced various challenges, including permit complications and complaints regarding working conditions, further extending the timeline for completion. The final phase of the expansion is projected to finish by the summer of 2026, ultimately allowing for a staggering capacity of 105,000 fans.
