Bawumia backs dismissal of Charles Adu Boahen as Minister of State at Finance Ministry

Vice President Dr Mahumudu Bawumia, has welcomed the President’s decision to sack Charles Adu Boahen as Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.

In a Facebook post on Monday, November 14, 2022, the Vice President said,” I would like to state that if what the Minister is alleged to have said is accurately captured in the video, then his position as a minister of state is untenable. He should be dismissed summarily and investigated.”

“My most cherished asset in life is my integrity and I will not allow anyone to use my name to engage in corrupt activities,” he added.

Mr Adu-Boahen’s position as the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry was terminated by the Presidency on Monday, November 14.

In a statement issued by the Presidency on Monday, Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, noted the dismissal of Mr Adu-Boahen was due to his involvement in illegal small scale mining (galamsey) as revealed in a yet-to-be-aired exposé by investigative journalist, Anas Amereyaw Anas.
