Bayern and Flamengo Advance as Benfica and Espérance Boost Hopes in FIFA Club World Cup

Bayern München and CR Flamengo secured their spots in the last 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup, while SL Benfica and Espérance de Tunis kept their dreams alive with crucial victories. Auckland City FC and LAFC, however, faced elimination in a dramatic day of action.

Bayern München clinched their advancement with a 2-1 victory over CA Boca Juniors, where Michael Olise continued his stellar form, netting two goals. Boca’s Miguel Merentiel briefly threatened an upset with a solo equalizer, but Bayern’s dominance ensured their progression.

In Philadelphia, Flamengo thrilled their passionate fans with a 3-1 comeback win against Chelsea FC. Despite Chelsea scoring first, Flamengo’s veterans, Bruno Henrique and Danilo, struck twice in quick succession, igniting a celebration in the stands.

SL Benfica made a statement in their match against Auckland City FC, thrashing them 6-0. After a frustrating first half, Angel Di Maria broke the deadlock with a penalty, opening the floodgates for Benfica as they cruised to victory. This commanding win significantly improved their chances of advancing, especially in a group where goal difference could prove crucial.

Espérance upset LAFC 1-0, thanks to a goal from Youcef Belaili and a critical late penalty save by Bechir Ben Said. This victory keeps Espérance in contention, as they now need a win against Chelsea to secure a spot in the knockout phase.
