BBC apologises after sex noise was heard in the studio during a live FA Cup
The BBC’s pre-match coverage for the FA Cup replay between Liverpool and Wolves was disrupted on Monday evening by on-air sex noises, leaving presenter Gary Lineker and viewers embarrassed.
The incident, which was the result of a prank, was live-streamed by YouTuber Daniel ‘Jarvo’ Jarvis, who claimed credit for the act.
“We apologize to any viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening,” a statement from a BBC spokesperson read. “We are investigating how this happened and taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
The incident occurred during the pre-match build-up, with co-commentator Alan Shearer joking that the phone belonged to studio pundit and former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy.
The prank highlights the potential vulnerabilities of live broadcasts and the need for stricter security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The BBC is yet to give further details on the investigation, but it is expected that they will take necessary actions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
