Hearts of Oak were left frustrated following a goalless draw with Samartex FC on Sunday afternoon.
Returning to the Accra Sports Stadium after the festive season, Hearts of Oak were expected to record a win that will keep their hopes of a title challenge alive but that proved futile.
A resolute performance from the visitors throughout the contest denied Hearts of Oak a goal as the match eventually ended in a goalless draw at the end of the 90 minutes.
While Hearts of Oak remain in the top four of the Ghana Premier League table, the team’s inability to win means that the team has missed out on closing the gap between them and current league leaders Aduana Stars.
At the Nana Gyeabour Park in Bechem, Bechem United edged Medeama SC in the only game played on Saturday to bounce back to winning ways after losing to Samartex in midweek.
