Bibiani Gold Stars Coach Frimpong Manso Optimistic About Title Prospects Despite 2-0 Defeat to Vision FC as Rivals Close the Gap
Bibiani Gold Stars faced a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Vision FC on April 27, 2025, a result that prevented them from extending their lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League.
The loss was particularly costly as their closest challengers, Nations FC, also dropped points, presenting Gold Stars with a missed opportunity to fortify their position in the title race.
Gold Stars entered the match on a solid defensive run, having recorded three consecutive clean sheets. They managed to keep Vision FC at bay during a goalless first half, showing resilience in their backline. However, the momentum shifted ten minutes after the break when Edward Agyemang broke the deadlock for the home side, sending a wave of disappointment through the Gold Stars contingent.
As the match progressed, Vision FC extended their lead when Edmond Asante scored a late goal, sealing a much-needed victory for Nana Kweku Agyemang’s side. This result propelled Vision FC back above Accra Lions into 14th place in the league standings, while Gold Stars saw their lead at the top of the table shrink to just two points.
Despite the setback, head coach Frimpong Manso remains optimistic about his team’s chances. “We have four games left, three of them at home. We know it won’t be easy, but we’re motivated to push harder. Even for the away game, we’ll fight for something. We’re still on course to win the league,” he stated, reflecting a strong belief in his squad’s capabilities.
Looking ahead, Gold Stars can take solace in the fact that three of their last four matches will be played at home, where they have historically performed well. Their next encounter will be against Karela United on May 4, a crucial match that presents an opportunity to regain momentum.
Manso emphasized the importance of this fixture, stating, “We need to make Anfield our fortress. Winning at home is vital for our title aspirations.”
Gold Stars will face a significant challenge against Asante Kotoko on May 25. This clash is expected to be one of the season’s highlights, with both teams aiming for the league title and wrap up the season on June 8, when they host Accra Lions in what could be a decisive match in their campaign.
