Bibiani GoldStars Pull Off Stunning Comeback to Defeat Kotoko in GHALCA Top 4 Opener

Bibiani GoldStars SC shocked Asante Kotoko with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in a thrilling start to the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament.

GoldStars, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions, struck first in the first half when striker Albert Amoah capitalized on a defensive blunder from Kotoko, firing past goalkeeper Emmanuel Kobi to give his team an early lead.

However, the Porcupine Warriors quickly responded. Kotoko captain Samba O’Neil conceded a foul in the penalty area, prompting the referee to award a penalty. Samuel Atta Kumi stepped up and confidently converted to equalize for Kotoko, sending the teams into halftime at 1-1.

The second half saw a twist as an unfortunate own goal from Asante Kotoko gifted GoldStars the winning goal, sealing a hard-fought victory for the Miners. With this win, Bibiani GoldStars heads into their next match with momentum.

GoldStars’ coach Stephen Frimpong Manso expressed pride in his team’s performance as they prepare to face Hearts of Oak on Friday. Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will look to bounce back against Heart of Lions before their crucial showdown with archrivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
