Black Queens Set for Senegal Training Tour Ahead of Women’s Africa Cup of Nations
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced an important nine-day training tour in Senegal for the Black Queens, aimed at preparing the team for the upcoming TotalEnergies Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Scheduled to take place during the April FIFA window, this tour will include two international friendly matches against Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses in Dakar.
Under the guidance of Coach Kim Lars Björkegren, the Black Queens will engage the Teranga Lionesses in back-to-back matches, providing a valuable opportunity for the team to sharpen their skills and build chemistry ahead of the major tournament. This training tour follows a successful camp organized by the GFA during the February FIFA window in Morocco.
The WAFCON is set to take place in Morocco from July 5-26, 2025, and the training tour in Senegal is a critical component of the Black Queens’ preparations. Coach Björkegren plans to utilize this time not only to assess the current squad but also to expand his player pool, ensuring the team is well-equipped for the challenges ahead.
With a solid preparation strategy in place, the Black Queens are focused on making a significant impact in the tournament and continuing Ghana’s proud footballing tradition.
