Black Queens Settle in Siaïda for WAFCON 2025 as Squad is Announced
The Black Queens of Ghana have officially relocated to Siaïda as they prepare for the upcoming TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2025. This move comes after a successful two-week training camp in Benslimane, where the team focused on enhancing their tactics and fitness for the tournament.
Coach Kim Lars Björkegren has finalized the squad, which features a strong blend of experienced players and emerging talent, all aiming to make a significant impact in the competition. The selected players include:
– Goalkeepers: Kerrie McCarthy, Cynthia Konlan Findib, Afi Amenyeku
– Defenders: Ernestina Abambila, Susan Ama Duah, Josephine Bonsu, Nina Norshie, Portia Boakye (Captain), Louisa Aniwaa, Anasthesia Achiaa, Comfort Yeboah
– Midfielders: Nancy Amoah, Jennifer Cudjoe, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, Evelyn Badu, Grace Asantewaa, Jacqueline Owusu, Stella Nyamekye

Notably, five players from the Ghana Women’s Premier League have been included in the squad, reflecting the growing strength of local talent within the national team.
The Black Queens are set to compete in Group C alongside reigning champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania. The tournament will take place in Morocco from July 5 to July 26, 2025. With their sights set on success, the Black Queens are determined to bring home glory and make their nation proud.
