Black Stars Fall to 70th in Latest FIFA Rankings
The Black Stars have slipped six spots in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings following a disappointing international performance in September. Ghana failed to secure a win in both of their group matches, suffering a loss to Angola and drawing with Niger during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
On September 5, Ghana’s impressive 24-year unbeaten home streak at the Baba Yara Stadium came to an end with a 1-0 defeat to Angola. This was followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger, leaving the team at the bottom of their group.
As a result, Ghana’s ranking has dropped from 64th to 70th globally, and they have fallen two positions within the CAF region as well. After a strong showing in June that lifted them to 12th in Africa, they now sit at 14th.
With CAF revoking the approval of the Baba Yara as their home ground, the Black Stars will face Sudan next in October.
