Black Stars Squad Unveiled for 2026 World Cup Qualifiers
Ghana’s Black Stars have announced a robust 23-man squad ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. Head coach Otto Addo has included notable names, with captain Jordan Ayew leading the team into these pivotal matches.
One of the most significant inclusions is Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, who returns to the squad after missing four AFCON qualifiers last year. With over 50 caps since his debut in 2016, Partey’s experience is expected to bolster the squad’s performance.
Newly called up Benjamin Asare of Accra Hearts of Oak is set to make his debut for the national team, alongside two other home-based players: Kamaradini Mamudu from Medeama SC and Razak Simpson of Nations FC. Additionally, Southampton FC’s Kamal Deen Sulemana makes a comeback from injury, and Jerry Afriyie of CD Lugo, who impressed in recent outings, is also part of the lineup.
The team will gather on March 17, 2025, for a four-day training camp in preparation for the match against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 21. Following that, they will travel to Morocco for a clash against Madagascar on March 24.
Ghana currently sits second in Group I with nine points from four matches, remaining in contention for World Cup qualification after securing victories against Madagascar, Mali, and the Central African Republic, with their only loss against Comoros.
