Black Volta Gold Project: Lands Ministry Issues 7-Day Ultimatum to Azumah Resources, Engineers & Planners to Resolve Dispute
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has stepped into the ongoing dispute between Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd and Engineers & Planners Company Limited over the Black Volta Gold Project, granting both parties a seven-day ultimatum to amicably resolve their differences or face a ministerial decision in the national interest.
In a statement dated July 10, 2025, and signed by the sector Minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Ministry emphasised the importance of constructive dialogue and responsible engagement, urging both companies to refrain from addressing the matter through the media.
“In light of the circumstances, I have decided to grant the parties a final period of seven (7) days within which to resolve the matter amicably,” the Minister stated. “Should this period elapse without a mutually agreed resolution, a decision shall be taken in the best interest of the country.”
The dispute between the two companies, both key players in Ghana’s mining industry, has been the subject of public commentary and press releases in recent days, raising concerns over potential delays in project commencement.
To facilitate the resolution process, the Minerals Commission has been tasked with supporting both sides in bridging their differences to ensure the timely execution of the project.
The Ministry’s intervention underscores the government’s commitment to preserving investor confidence and maintaining stability within the extractive sector, a vital contributor to Ghana’s economy.
