BoG Engages Over 250 Pupils in Currency Education Session to Mark Cedi@60
As part of activities marking the 60th anniversary of the Ghana Cedi, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) on Thursday, October 31, 2025, hosted over 250 school pupils from five basic schools at the Bank Square for a special currency education session.

The participating schools included Independence Avenue Basic School (1 & 2), St. George’s Anglican Basic School, Bishop Mixed Basic School, Accra Sempe School, and St. Barnabas Basic School.

The event, aimed at deepening financial literacy and promoting awareness of the Cedi’s history and evolution, featured engaging educational sessions, fun games, and interactive discussions on the role of the national currency in Ghana’s economic development.

Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Johnson Asiama, urged the pupils to take their studies seriously, emphasising that they represent the future of the country.
“You are the next generation of leaders who will shape Ghana’s financial and economic destiny. Learn hard, stay disciplined, and dream big,” he encouraged.

Dr. Asiama was joined by his deputies, Dr. Zakari Mumuni and Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, who also shared words of inspiration with the pupils.
The celebration concluded with music, lunch, and cheerful moments among the pupils and BoG staff – a reflection of the Bank’s commitment to promoting learning, legacy, and national pride.
