BoG named “RegTech of the Year” at Ghana FinTech Awards 2022

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) was awarded the prestigious “RegTech of the Year” award at the second edition of the Ghana FinTech Awards 2022. The ceremony, organized by the Ghana FinTech and Payments Association in collaboration with auditing firm KPMG, aims to recognize and applaud the efforts and achievements of individuals and entities driving last-mile solutions.

The “RegTech of the Year” award is a testament to the Bank of Ghana’s consistency in formulating appropriate regulations that support innovative service offerings in the financial services sector. This recognition highlights the Bank of Ghana’s pivotal role in promoting Ghana’s competitive advantage in the FinTech industry and contributing to building a resilient FinTech space for economic growth and financial inclusion.

The Ghana FinTech Awards 2022 saw 24 award categories presented to entities and individuals for their efforts and achievements in 2022. These stalwarts, both presently and over the years, have contributed immensely towards the promotion of Ghana’s FinTech competitive advantage and the journey to building a resilient FinTech space.

With the FinTech ecosystem and stakeholders looking up to the regulator to offer more support to promote responsible innovation, the Bank of Ghana is poised to deliver on that expectation. The Bank of Ghana’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for innovation and growth in the FinTech industry is evident in its ongoing regulatory efforts, such as the recently launched Innovation Sandbox.

The “RegTech of the Year” award is a well-deserved recognition of the Bank of Ghana’s efforts towards promoting a thriving FinTech ecosystem in Ghana. It is hoped that this recognition will inspire the Bank of Ghana and other stakeholders to continue to drive innovation and financial inclusion in Ghana’s financial services sector.
