Bond market turnover drops by 88.05% to GHS 18.51 million
The total volume exchanged on the secondary bond market for Government of Ghana papers lost significant momentum last week.
Market turnover declined sharply by 88.05% week-on-week, plummeting to GH¢18.51 million.
This marked decline in market activity was primarily driven by a dramatic 95% week-on-week reduction in exchange activity across the front and tail of the local currency (LCY) yield curve.
Conversely, market activity rebounded in the midsection of the curve, which constituted 27% of the weekly aggregate market turnover.
Analysts anticipate that exchange volumes will remain sluggish in the bond market, with treasury bills continuing to dominate secondary market activity.
