CAF Declares $9.48 Million Profit as Financial Turnaround Under Dr. Patrice Motsepe Gains Momentum

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reported a net profit of USD 9.48 million for the 2023-2024 financial year, signaling a significant financial turnaround under the leadership of President Dr. Patrice Motsepe. This announcement was made during the 47th CAF Ordinary General Assembly held in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, on October 6, 2025.

This profit marks the first positive financial outcome for CAF in several years and reflects a robust increase in commercial revenues. The upward trend is attributed to the growing global interest in African football, the acquisition of new sponsorships, and the implementation of stringent financial controls by the CAF leadership.

Four years ago, CAF faced substantial financial challenges, including deficits and legal disputes. In response, President Motsepe initiated a comprehensive turnaround strategy aimed at enhancing the financial sustainability and global competitiveness of African football. The successful execution of this strategy is evidenced by the significant profit reported today.

CAF’s total revenues have surged to USD 166.42 million, demonstrating strong growth across its commercial operations. Expenditures have been strategically aligned to foster football development, with allocations including USD 81 million for prize money, USD 19 million for tournament organization, USD 35 million for football development initiatives, and USD 21 million for governance and administration.

The organization has also strengthened its global positioning through high-profile partnerships, increasing the number of sponsors to 16 in the 2024-25 season. These partnerships are crucial for enhancing the commercial value of football in Africa and ensuring the delivery of world-class competitions.
