Carlos Alcaraz Crowned King of Queen’s for Second Time
Carlos Alcaraz captured his second Queen’s Club title on Sunday, defeating Czech player Jiri Lehecka 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 in a thrilling final as he prepares for Wimbledon. The world No. 2 showcased his dominance with an impressive 33 winners and 18 aces over the course of the match, which lasted two hours and 10 minutes.
Having already claimed titles on clay at the French Open, Rome, and Monte Carlo, as well as hard court victories in Rotterdam, Alcaraz has now secured five trophies in 2025. The 22-year-old’s remarkable form has seen him go on an 18-match winning streak since his only loss of the year to Holger Rune in the Barcelona final on April 20.
Alcaraz becomes just the second Spanish man to win the Queen’s title twice, joining Feliciano Lopez, who achieved the feat in 2017 and 2019. Raised on clay, Alcaraz has successfully transitioned to grass, having won Queen’s in 2023 and the Wimbledon title shortly thereafter. He successfully defended his Wimbledon crown last year and boasts an impressive 11-1 career record at Queen’s.
In the final against Lehecka, Alcaraz displayed his typical ruthlessness, breaking serve in the 11th game of the first set after a costly double fault from his opponent. Though Lehecka fought back to take the second set in a tense tiebreak, Alcaraz quickly regained control, breaking early in the deciding set and finishing strong with a series of powerful winners.
With this victory, Alcaraz sends a clear message to his Wimbledon rivals, signaling that his “grass-court mode” is fully activated as he prepares to defend his title starting June 30.
