Cecilia Dapaah Unable to Specify Amount Stolen by Accused Housemaids
Former Minister of Water and Sanitation, Cecilia Dapaah, told the Accra High Court on Wednesday, March 12, that she is unable to determine the exact amount each of the accused individuals allegedly stole from her storage room.
Testifying as the complainant on the second day of her evidence in the ongoing criminal trial against her former housemaids, Madam Dapaah was subjected to cross-examination by the lawyer representing the second accused, identified only as Sarah.
During the proceedings, Sarah became visibly emotional and, towards the end of the session, broke down in tears. She interrupted the court proceedings to challenge the former minister’s testimony regarding jewelry boxes, asserting that the boxes in question belonged to her, not Madam Dapaah, despite the latter’s claim of ownership.
This follows Madam Dapaah’s initial court appearance on Tuesday, March 11, during which she alleged that the accused individuals stole her jewelry valued at $53,000.
On the same day, she further claimed that the accused housemaids stole substantial sums of money, including $410,000, €300,000, and GHȼ350,000 (approximately $30,000) from her storage room.
The case continues as the court seeks to establish the full extent of the alleged theft and determine the validity of the claims made by both parties.
