Chamber of Mines Launches Competency Framework for Mining Industry

The Ghana Chamber of Mines has launched the Ghana Mining Competency Framework to standardize the approach to defining and measuring knowledge and skills required for various roles within the mining sector.

This framework will help mining companies ensure that their workforce is adequately trained and qualified to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.

The launch took place on the sidelines of the 6th Human Resource Biennial Conference held in Accra.

Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, Mr. Sulemanu Koney, expressed his appreciation to the HR Committee and the Ad-hoc Committee members for their tremendous work in developing the framework.

Mr. Koney stated that “the framework will serve as a foundation for designing training programs, assessments, and career development pathways, all aimed at enhancing the overall competency of employees in the mining industry.”

He urged Human Resources professionals in the industry “to continue implementing initiatives and programs that meet the evolving needs of the mining sector.”

Industry leaders and experts shared their insights and experiences, emphasizing the need for collaboration and innovation to address the sector’s challenges and ensure a sustainable future.

Mr. Koney’s call to action underscores the importance of HR practitioners in driving sustainability initiatives within the mining sector.
