CHAN 2022: Ghana drawn in Group C alongside Morocco, Sudan and Madagascar
Ghana has been drawn in Group C of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and will compete against Morocco, Sudan and Madagascar with the competition set to be held in Algeria next year.
The tournament is scheduled to run from January 13 to February 4 with four cities in the North African nation set to host 18 teams.
The upcoming CHAN was pushed to 2023 as a result of a series of rescheduled competitions organised by the Confederation of African Football due to the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic.
The biannual tournament has the Black Galaxies competing for the first time after missing the past three editions.
Ghana will play against defending champions Morocco, who have won the past two editions of the CHAN in 2018 and 2020, Madagascar who will make their debut and Sudan who best performances are third place finishes in 2011 and 2018.
Ghana has missed out on winning the tournament created solely for players who play local football on the African continent despite competing in two finals in 2009 and 2014.
Accra Great Olympics midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu played a role in the draw witnessed by CAF President Patrice Motsepe and Algerian football legend Rabah Madjer and might be available for selection into the Black Galaxies should he keep up with his recent performance.
