CID Director-General Sues National Investment Bank Over Late Husband’s Accounts
The Director-General of the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Faustina Andoh-Kwofie, has filed a lawsuit against the National Investment Bank (NIB) over alleged irregularities in the bank accounts of her late husband, COP Stephen Andoh-Kwofie, who passed away in 2015.
In her statement of claim, COP Andoh-Kwofie accused NIB officials of manipulating the balances in accounts belonging to her late husband and his company, ANEBONA. She stated that as the administrator of his estate, her late husband had informed her of significant deposits he made into these accounts before his passing.
However, upon requesting bank statements, she allegedly discovered substantial discrepancies, with the balances in two key accounts—5012002254901-USD-ANEBONA and 5012002254902-GBP-ANEBONA—being significantly lower than expected.
COP Andoh-Kwofie further claimed that multiple requests for a detailed transaction breakdown have gone unanswered by the bank.
She is, therefore, seeking a court order to compel NIB to provide complete and accurate account statements from December 1, 2014, to date, as well as general damages and legal costs.
Meanwhile, NIB has acknowledged receipt of the lawsuit and stated that its legal department is handling the matter.
