betPawa GPL: Asante Kotoko outclass Aduana in Kumasi
Asante Kotoko recorded a huge 2-1 victory over Aduana Stars in an enthralling Ghana Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The home side produced a comeback to seal a vital win against the league leaders.
The first half ended in a deadlock, but the second half saw Kotoko come out with more intent and purpose.
Aduana Stars took the lead through Isaac Mintah and looked set to extend their lead at the top of the table until Uganda striker Stephen Mukwala scored in the 37th minute to draw parity.
They pressed forward and got their second in the 48th minute when Ivorian midfielder Serge Zeze scored what proved to be the match-winner.
Despite Aduana Stars’ best efforts to get back into the game, Kotoko held on to their lead and secured all three points. The win puts Kotoko back in contention for the title as they sit fifth on the league table, just five points behind Aduana.
Aduana, on the other hand, still maintain their position at the top of the table, albeit with a reduced lead over second-placed Bechem United.
In other league matches played on Sunday, Berekum Chelsea secured a late 1-0 win over Bibiani GoldStars to make it back-to-back wins. Dreams FC also got back to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Samartex FC, with Ali Huzaf and Godfred Atuahene on the scoresheet.
Great Olympics were denied a win in dramatic fashion as Tamale City scored a 96th-minute equalizer to secure a 1-1 draw. It was Olympics’ first game at their adopted home of WAFA Park in Sogakope.
Meanwhile, Legon Cities boosted their survival hopes with a crucial away win against Karela United, who have now dropped into the relegation zone.
Finally, Nsoatreman secured an impressive victory over Hearts of Oak with Samuel Ofori scoring a late penalty to seal the win.
