Meanwhile, in another match earlier in the day, Fluminense pulled off a stunning victory over Inter Milan, advancing to the quarterfinals with a 2-0 win. German Cano’s early header set the tone for Fluminense, who withstood a strong second-half push from Inter before Hercules sealed the victory in stoppage time.
Fluminense, captained by veteran Thiago Silva, became the second Brazilian team to reach the last eight, joining Palmeiras. They will now head to Orlando to face either Manchester City or Al-Hilal in the next round.
