Club World Cup: Manchester City Exits After Extra-Time Defeat to Al-Hilal; Fluminense Stuns Inter Milan

Manchester City faced a heartbreaking exit from the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 after a thrilling 4-3 extra-time defeat to Al-Hilal at the Camping World Stadium. Bernardo Silva opened the scoring for City in the 10th minute, but a series of dramatic twists led to their downfall.

City started strong, with Silva tapping in a crucial goal following a powerful run and cross by Rayan Ait-Nouri. However, Al-Hilal struck back quickly in the second half with goals from Marcos Leonardo and Malcom, only for Erling Haaland to level the score shortly after.

As the match progressed, Al-Hilal took the lead again through Kalidou Koulibaly in extra time, but Phil Foden responded with his 100th goal for City, leveling the match once more. Unfortunately for City, Leonardo secured the win for Al-Hilal late in the second half of extra time, sealing City’s fate in the Round of 16.

Meanwhile, in another match earlier in the day, Fluminense pulled off a stunning victory over Inter Milan, advancing to the quarterfinals with a 2-0 win. German Cano’s early header set the tone for Fluminense, who withstood a strong second-half push from Inter before Hercules sealed the victory in stoppage time.

Fluminense, captained by veteran Thiago Silva, became the second Brazilian team to reach the last eight, joining Palmeiras. They will now head to Orlando to face either Manchester City or Al-Hilal in the next round.
