WTA: Emma Raducanu Shocks Daria Kasatkina to Advance at Internationaux de Strasbourg

Great Britain’s Emma Raducanu delivered a stunning performance on Monday, defeating sixth-seeded Daria Kasatkina of Australia 6-1, 6-3 to secure her place in the Round of 16 at the Internationaux de Strasbourg. This victory marks Kasatkina’s third consecutive loss, leaving her ranked No. 17 in the world.

Raducanu, showcasing her impressive form, dominated the match from the outset, effectively neutralizing Kasatkina’s game and demonstrating her own powerful baseline play. With this win, Raducanu continues to build momentum as she aims for further success on clay.

In other notable matches at the WTA 500 event, ninth-seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil staged a comeback to defeat Denmark’s Clara Tauson 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 in a grueling two hours and 44 minutes.

Additional winners in the Round of 32 included Ashlyn Krueger, who triumphed over McCartney Kessler 6-4, 7-5, and Danielle Collins, who edged Sofia Kenin 6-1, 1-6, 6-2. Russian players Anna Kalinskaya and Anna Blinkova also advanced, along with Wang Xinyu of China and Marie Bouzkova from the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, at the Grand Prix Sar La Princesse Lalla Meryem in Rabat, Colombia’s No. 2 Camila Osorio overcame a rocky start to defeat Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. Fourth-seeded Ann Li and ninth-seeded Katie Volynets also secured their spots in the Round of 16 with strong performances.
