Deeper Life members now free to access TV, social media, others

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has explained why the Church changed its stance against the use of television, radio, social media and other technological inventions.

The church in its early years was reportedly against the use of television and other modern technologies to keep members away from temptations and worldly corruption.

But Kumuyi lamented in a Facebook video that ‘wicked people’ are using the provisions of technology to advance their agenda, therefore, the Church cannot continue to ‘sleep’, but must ‘wake up’ and follow the gospel. The same technique should be used for this.

He explained that the paradigm shift became inevitable following his knowledge of this agenda by forces against the gospel with the use of technology.

“Why are you late, why are you the last person to use all the things that people are using to make the world worse, we’re going to get up,” said the 80-year-old preacher.

“Whatever is in the hands of evildoers, we will take it from them and use it to preach the gospel. Let your no turn into yes.

“People are finding new ways and they are doing evil. These are the last days and evil is increasing as people go beyond using their natural powers, natural technology, they use the telephone, they use the media, they use all these connections, zoom And use all these things to expand the evil they are doing. ,

“If those messengers of Satan are using today’s technology and they are expanding, what will happen to you? You will use what is available; They are available not only to messengers who do evil, they are available to those who are doing good. you will use them.

“The church has gone to sleep. When radio started a few years ago, people didn’t understand how radios made sounds, and so at the time the church said, ‘No, we can’t use the radio, there There is something magical, that is demonic, the sound coming from just one gadget?’ The church said no. Then, the people of the world started using the radio. Then the church woke up.

“When the television came on, somebody was playing somewhere, they see it on the screen and then the church said, ‘This is evil, these are the last days, look at these, putting pictures on the screen and whatever they’re doing somewhere. ‘. And the church said, ‘No, we’re not going to use it’ but later they woke up and they’re using the television now.

“But now the church is waking up and we are seeing that thing (technology) is to spread the gospel, because the word of God is found everywhere. We will be wiser than the people of the world. Jehovah will wake us up.”

The preacher is now known to change his stance on many issues related to technology.

His use of a private jet and a limousine for the Crusades in September 2021 drew widespread criticism.

But Kumuyi, who was bent on adopting the change, insisted, “Some people, when the plane came, some people said, ‘We’re not using the airplane’ and they were on horses. Bicycles. came and they said ‘God has given us legs and if he has given us legs, why are we going to use cycles?’

“The motorcycles came, the cars came, and when the airplane came, they said, ‘God has given us the land; He hasn’t given us space and so all those people who are using the airplane, the earthly ones, go to hell. I am telling you what they used to say in those days but now, all those people, airplanes have silenced them and now they can go anywhere.
