Deputy Finance Minister inaugurates six new members of PIAC Board

Six new members of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee has been sworn in by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, on behalf of the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori Atta.

The new members are replacing some members of the board who have finished serving their term.

The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) was established by Section 51 of the Petroleum Revenue Management Act, 2011 (Act 815) as amended and inaugurated on 15th September 2011. It has the mandate of ensuring transparency and accountability in the management and use of petroleum revenues in Ghana.

Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah indicated that the Committee’s hard work and determination to the execution of its mandate has impacted positively on the management and use of petroleum revenues in Ghana.

He further added that Government will continue to support PIAC in its work and the Ministry of Finance doors remained open to PIAC for engagement and collaboration.

Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah urged the members to execute their mandate to ensure that citizens benefit from the exploitation of the petroleum resource.

“I wish to remind you that your appointment is a call to public service, and I am confident that you will justify the trust that your nominating institutions, the government and people of Ghana have reposed in your diverse expertise and capacity by executing your statutory mandate to ensure that citizens benefit from the exploitation of the petroleum resource”, he stressed.

The new board members are, Mr. Bashiru Abdul-Razak, Mr. Osei Kwadwo Adow, Mr. Nasir Alfa Mohammed, Prof. Kwame Adom-Frimpong, Mrs. Clara Beeri Kasser-Tee, and Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu vii, Member.
