Dr. Ishmael Ackah appointed Acting Executive Secretary of PURC

Dr. Ishmael Ackah has been appointed the Acting Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission.

His appointment was announced by the Commission in a press statement on Monday, February 7, 2022. 

The Commission noted that Dr. Ackah was appointed by President Akufo-Addo to succeed Mrs. Mami Duffie Ofori, who has served as the Executive Secretary for the past five years .

“The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ishmael Ackah as Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission. His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, has appointed him to succeed Mrs. Mami Duffie Ofori, who served as Executive Secretary for the past five years”, the statement read.

Dr Ishmael Ackah who is a fellow of the Institute of Economic Affairs Ghana is now expected to steer the affairs of PURC to bring success to the outfit.

He is an energy economist with more than 10 years of experience. His experience spans into public service, private sector, civil society and academia.

He was the Regulatory and Electricity Market expert at the USAID West Africa Energy Program and Delloitte Ghana. 

He also led the team that developed the energy and petroleum sections of the 2017 and 2021 Coordinated Programme for Economic and Social Development Policies.

Dr. Ackah is expected to commence work as the Executive Secretary on February 7, 2022.
