Drive to Inspire-Africa Awards Scholarships to 17 Tertiary Female Students at Fundraiser Event; Targets 50 Scholarship Awards for Next Year

Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Drive to Inspire-Africa (DTI-A), at its 2024 Impact Report and Fundraiser Event, presented scholarships to 17 female students to pursue their education in various tertiary institutions in the country.

The 17 female students were selected from 54 shortlisted students out of some 97 applications from 25 schools across the country, comprising the first cohort of beneficiaries of the NGO’s scholarship programme, which supports academically gifted but financially challenged girls in accessing tertiary education.

Applicants were assessed across five key areas: academic performance, leadership qualities, community impact, financial need, and moral character.

The scholarships as given is expected to cover tuition, accommodation, and essential learning materials needed for the entire four-year education period, ensuring recipients have the resources needed to excel.

Speaking at the Fundraiser Event on Saturday, February 22, 2025, CEO of Serene Insurance and Chairman of the Drive to Inspire-Africa Scholarship Committee, Mercy Naa Koshie Boampong, outlined an ambitious expansion plan for the initiative, targeting a minimum of 50 scholarships next year.

“We began with 97 applications from over 25 schools across six regions and after a stringent screening and verification process, we arrived at our final 17 awardees. With your generous contributions, we can raise the number of scholarships to at least 50 next year,” she told attendees at the Fundraiser Event.

The Fundraiser Event which served as a platform to celebrate the organization’s impact over the past year, provided a comprehensive update on the organization’s initiatives, achievements, and future plans while engaging stakeholders, corporate partners, and supporters in furthering its mission.

Drive to Inspire-Africa is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering young people through education, career guidance, internships, and mentorship.

Through its flagship programmes, Drive to Inspire-Africa has created platforms for young people to learn, grow, and lead.

The NGO’s mentorship initiatives connect students with experienced professionals who guide them in personal and career development, as well as real-world experience that prepares young people for the job market.

Drive to Inspire-Africa has reached over 11,000 students across Ghana through its outreach programmes.
