Drive to Inspire Africa Ignited Change at the Empowering Futures: 2024 Impact Report and Fundraiser Event

On Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, Ernesto’s Country Club in Trasacco Estate pulsed with an electric atmosphere of hope and purpose as Drive to Inspire Africa (DTI-A) hosted its “Empowering Futures: 2024 Impact Report and Annual Fundraiser.”

The event, graced by distinguished guests and passionate supporters, showcased the organization’s remarkable strides in empowering young African minds through mentorship, education, and personal development.

The evening commenced with a heartfelt invocation by Reverend Father Akesseh of Christ the King Parish, followed by an inspiring welcome address by Ms. Mansa Williams, Director of the DTI-A Board.

She emphasized that Drive to Inspire – Africa is more than just an organization; it’s a community of “visionaries, change-makers, and generous hearts” committed to investing in the future of Africa’s youth.

A compelling video presentation illuminated the organization’s mission to build a generation of confident and capable leaders, guided by core values of accountability, resilience, and compassion.

Their flagship programs, including mentorship initiatives, scholarship programs, and internships, have already made a significant impact. Outreach programs have reached over 11,000 students across Ghana in the past year, spanning the Eastern, Central, Volta, and Greater Accra regions.

Notably, a partnership with the Nneka Youth Foundation in the Volta region touched the lives of 1,500 students during the World Changes Summer Camp. Since January 2025, Drive to Inspire – Africa has also extended its reach to the tertiary level, through a partnership with the University of Ghana SRC.

The impact extends beyond students, with workshops organized for guidance and counseling personnel of the Ghana Education Service in the Greater Accra region.

Testimonials from beneficiaries underscored the transformative power of the organization, with stories of young girls finding confidence and scholarship recipients overcoming financial barriers.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of the dedicated volunteers who have been instrumental in Drive to Inspire – Africa’s success. Leading this charge was Nana Adjoa Hackman, the founder of DTI-A, whose vision and unwavering dedication have been the driving force behind the organization’s remarkable growth.

Her message, delivered with heartfelt sincerity, emphasized the collective effort required to empower Africa’s youth, highlighting the volunteers’ crucial role in bringing the organization’s mission to life.

“It takes a community,” she stated, emphasizing the power of shared passion and commitment. Nana Adjoa Hackman personally celebrated volunteers, including Ansabea Addae Anomh, Elvis Crystal, Prince Amorin, Ivy Obeng, Barry Musa, and many others, expressing profound gratitude for their selfless contributions.

Accountability and transparency were paramount, with Mr. Kwame Sarpong Barnieh, a partner at KPMG, presenting the Accountability Partner’s report for the year.

He lauded Drive to Inspire – Africa’s vision and highlighted KPMG’s role as an accountability partner, ensuring regulatory compliance, financial oversight, and the integrity of the scholarship program.

The event’s centrepiece was the presentation of scholarships to the “Select 17,” outstanding students from diverse backgrounds and academic pursuits. Mrs. Mercy Boampong, chairperson of the scholarship committee and CEO of Serene Insurance Limited, shared the rigorous selection process, emphasizing academic excellence, leadership, community service, financial need, and moral character.

Representatives from various sponsors, including Cyprus Energy, Devtraco Group, Serene Insurance, GH Express Transport Services, Golden Coast Developers, Nguvu Mining, St. Michael’s Specialist Hospital, Trasacco Group, and Africa Legal Associates (ALP Ghana), presented laptops and scholarship awards to the deserving recipients.

The students, hailing from schools across Ghana, including Oguaa Senior High Technical School, Ebenezer Senior High School, and Achimota Senior High School and Okuapeman Senior High School were congratulated and encouraged to strive for excellence.

The event concluded with a call to action, urging attendees to support Drive to Inspire – Africa through sponsorships, volunteering, and partnerships. The organization aims to expand its scholarship program to support even more students in the coming year, relying on the generosity of its donors.

Drive to Inspire – Africa’s Empowering Futures: 2024 Impact Report and Fundraiser Event was a resounding success, showcasing the organization’s unwavering commitment to transforming lives and igniting change across the continent.

DTI-A is set to commence the next round of its three-month mentorship program for girls aged 18-25 on the 1st of March, 2025, with 174 mentees and 174 mentors from eight countries around Africa.
