GPL Matchweek 23 Wrap: Kotoko maintain eight point lead at the top; RTU ends Chelsea’s unbeaten run
Kumasi Asante Kotoko picked their first win in the season over city rivals King Faisal to go ten points clear at the summit of the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors who have already lost on two occasions to the Insha Allah boys this season grabbed all three points after a stunning freekick from left back Imoro Ibrahim.
The game did not live up to expectations as compared to the two encounters with the first coming in the GPL and then the FA Cup.
A late goal on Monday ensured Real Tamale United ended Berekum Chelsea’s 12 game unbeaten run in a dramatic 5 goal thriller.
Dominating the game, RTU were rewarded as Issak Kuka scored in the 24th minute to give the home side the lead.
Chelsea equalized just four minutes later when Ansu Hanry scored to restore parity before the break.
In the second hakf, a pulsating encounter ensued between the two clubs as the game got intensified.
Mohammed Sadat found the back of the net of the visitors in the 49th minute to give RTU the lead once but a goal from Emmanuel Sarpong levelled things up again for Berekum Chelsea.
Leaving it late, Baba Kushibo grabbed the third and winning goal in a spectacular fashion as RTU picked their first win in ten games and are now one place away from the relegation zone.

Augustine Okrah scored the only goal of the game and match winner after just 12 minutes with a fine finish inside box after being set up by Kwei Jnr.

Elmina Sharks may say goodbye to the Premier League as their troubles keep worsening, this time around losing 3-1 to Karela at the CAM Park in Tarkwa.
The Elmina based club managed to escape relegation last season with some fine run of results including beating Asante Kotoko but luck has eluded them this season as they lie rock bottom of the league with 15 points after 23 games.
A brace from Emmanuel Dagadu and a goal from Owusu did the damaged as Karela came from behind to win game as Michael Asamoah put Skarks ahead as early as in the 11th minute.
At the Dun’s Park, Farouk Adams scored a stunning freekick goal of the season contender in the first half of the game between Gold Stars and Dreams FC at the Dun’s Park as the Bibiani-based side walked away with the maximum point.
