Energy Ministry Approves Scheduled Shutdown of Atuabo Gas Processing Plant for Maintenance
The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has approved a request by the Ghana National Gas Company Ltd. (Ghana Gas) to undertake a scheduled maintenance shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant from August 16 to 30, 2025.
According to the Ministry, the suspension of gas supply will enable critical inspections, repairs, and upgrades aimed at improving the plant’s efficiency and reliability. The exercise forms part of government’s broader commitment to the safe and sustainable operation of key national energy infrastructure.
To mitigate potential disruptions in electricity supply, the Ministry indicated it is working with key power sector stakeholders to deploy alternative fuel sources during the shutdown. These contingency measures are expected to ensure stable and uninterrupted nationwide power supply.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to reliable energy delivery and pledged to provide regular updates on the progress of the maintenance works.
