F1: Verstappen Finally Claims Pole at US Grand Prix Sprint Qualifying
Max Verstappen ended his lengthy wait for pole position by securing the top spot for Saturday’s sprint race at the United States Grand Prix.
In a thrilling qualifying session, the three-time world champion clocked a best lap of 1:32.833, narrowly beating Mercedes’ George Russell by just 0.012 seconds.
This marks Verstappen’s first pole since the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in May, a significant comeback after 12 events. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari rounded out the top three, while McLaren’s Lando Norris, trailing Verstappen by 52 points in the championship, placed fourth.
The qualifying session was marked by surprises, including early exits for both Sergio Perez and Oscar Piastri, who failed to advance to the top ten shootout. As the Circuit of the Americas sizzled at 35 degrees Celsius, Verstappen’s performance showcased his determination to regain form ahead of the sprint race.
