GoldBod Suspends NK Benark Enterprise’s Licence Over Gold-Related Offences
The Ghana Gold Board has suspended the licence of NK Benark Enterprise, a Tier 2 gold buying company, ordering the closure of its outlets across the country after allegations of multiple gold-related offences.
The regulator said on Tuesday that Bernard Nkrumah, the company’s sole proprietor, had been arrested and was facing prosecution in the High Court. It warned traders, miners and the public against conducting any business with the company.
The suspension marks one of the most high-profile enforcement actions by the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), which has stepped up regulatory oversight as part of efforts to curb illicit trading and strengthen transparency in the sector.
“GoldBod remains committed to accountability and transparency in the gold trading industry,” the regulator said in its statement, adding that the measures were part of a broader clampdown on non-compliant operators.
Gold is Ghana’s top export earner, and authorities have tightened regulation of the industry to reduce smuggling and ensure more foreign exchange earnings are repatriated through official channels.
