FA Cup: Newcastle to Face Brighton; Man United Drawn Against Fulham

The fifth round of the FA Cup has set the stage for some thrilling matchups, notably featuring Newcastle United hosting Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester United taking on Fulham at Old Trafford.

Newcastle secured their place in the next round with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Birmingham City, coming from behind thanks to a goal from Callum Wilson and two crucial strikes from Joe Willock during their match at St. Andrew’s. This victory not only highlighted their resilience but also reaffirmed their determination to make a deep run in this year’s tournament.

The draw for the fifth round took place on Monday evening, revealing that Newcastle will host Brighton, who made headlines by knocking out Chelsea in the previous round. The match is set to take place over the weekend of March 1, 2025.

Historically, Newcastle has had a mixed record against Brighton in the FA Cup, with only one victory in their last six encounters. This lone triumph came during the 1929/30 season when the Magpies won decisively, 3-0. However, they experienced heartbreak in the following two consecutive seasons, exiting the tournament at the hands of the Seagulls.

In another highly anticipated clash, Manchester United will welcome Fulham to Old Trafford. United fans will be eager to see their team progress further in the competition as they aim to reclaim the FA Cup title.

The full draw for the fifth round is as follows:
– Preston North End vs. Burnley
– Aston Villa vs. Cardiff City
– Crystal Palace vs. Millwall
– Manchester United vs. Fulham
– Newcastle United vs. Brighton & Hove Albion
– AFC Bournemouth vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers
– Manchester City vs. Plymouth
– Exeter City or Nottingham Forest vs. Ipswich Town
