Finance Minister Submits GHS 68.1 Billion Q1 2025 Budget to Parliament
Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, has submitted the Expenditure in Advance of Appropriation, valued at GH¢68.1 billion, to Parliament.
This provision is intended to cover essential government expenditures for the first quarter of 2025.
The mini-budget is a constitutional mechanism designed to ensure fiscal continuity during transitional periods.
It allows the government to meet critical financial obligations pending the presentation of a comprehensive budget by the incoming administration, which will govern for the remainder of the year.
Allocation Priorities
The proposed allocation in the Q1 2025 Budget focuses on:
- Salaries for public sector workers
- Statutory payments
- Maintenance of critical infrastructure
- Funding for social intervention programs
The allocations are aimed at sustaining government operations and averting disruptions in public service delivery.
Parliamentary Review
Following the submission of the mini-budget, Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Asiamah Amoako referred the document to the Budget and Finance Committees for review.
The committees are tasked with analyzing the figures and policy proposals before presenting their report to the House for debate and approval.
The Expenditure in Advance of Appropriation remains a vital tool in ensuring economic stability during election years and administrative transitions.
