FirstBank Ghana Launches 2025 Junior Internship Programme to Nurture Future Leaders
FirstBank Ghana has officially launched the 2025 edition of its flagship Junior Internship Programme (JIP), an initiative aimed at providing early corporate exposure and leadership development opportunities for children aged between 10 and 14 years.
Speaking at the launch event, Managing Director of FirstBank Ghana, Victor Asante, underscored the Bank’s commitment to nurturing future leaders by equipping young participants with foundational skills in communication, confidence, and curiosity through structured and enriching experiences within a professional setting.
“Because we believe in the potential of young people, we are committed to shaping confident and capable leaders of tomorrow,” Mr. Asante stated. “The Junior Internship Programme is not just an event, it’s a journey of growth and discovery that instills the values of hard work, teamwork, accountability, and lifelong learning in an age-appropriate manner.”

Now in its third year, the JIP is designed to introduce children to the world of work, with a particular focus on banking, leadership, innovation, and customer service.
Through the programme, young participants gain firsthand insights into various professions, while building essential soft skills and developing respect for time management and professional conduct.
Mr. Asante revealed that the initiative, which initially began with limited partnerships, has seen growing support from corporate Ghana.
This year’s edition has secured the backing of several partners, including KIVO, Gino, Pepsodent, Awake Mineral Water, Kiki Juice Drink, Top-Up Pharmacy, and the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS).
These partners, he noted, are not merely sponsors but collaborators in delivering a transformational experience for every child involved.
“This programme is about igniting curiosity, building confidence, and offering real-life experiences that complement formal education. Our vision is to be more than just a bank, we aim to be a platform that unlocks dreams, one child, one experience, and one opportunity at a time,” Mr Asante added.
The 2025 Junior Internship Programme is scheduled to run from July 14 to September 12, 2025, and will offer children the chance to engage with professionals across various departments of FirstBank, as well as interact with the Bank’s partners to gain a broader understanding of the world of work.
Mr. Asante speaking further at the launch event, called on the young participants to embrace every lesson and opportunity presented through the programme, stating, “The seeds we are planting today will not bloom tomorrow, but they will grow and one day, these same children will become the leaders, change-makers, and innovators of the future.”
The launch event was also marked by goodwill messages from the programme’s corporate partners, each expressing enthusiasm and commitment to supporting the development of Ghana’s future business and financial leaders.
